Save A Pet - A Little About Us

Who We Are

The Save A Pet Society is a volunteer-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Seekonk, MA.

We provide necessary funding to keep homeless animals at the Seekonk Animal Shelter healthy, safe, and comfortable until they are adopted. We actively seek to match homeless animals with people in need of a new friend.

In addition to facilitating the adoption of sheltered animals, we are active in the community, encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets in order to reduce the number of homeless unwanted animals.

The Save A Pet Society believes every dog and cat deserves a person or family that is willing to make a commitment to a pet for a lifetime. While these animals are waiting for homes, we want to give them all the care that they need.

If you have any questions about Seekonk Save A Pet, please feel free to contact us using the information on the Contact page.

What We Do

Save A Pet Society volunteers are active in many ways to benefit animals in the care of the Seekonk Shelter.

We make each day at the shelter a day in which a dog goes out for a walk and a cat has a safe place to purr.

We organize and participate in fundraising events and projects throughout the year to bring in the funds necessary to care for the animals. Without these funds and our active help, the animals could not remain at the shelter long enough to find adoptive homes.

Please take the time to review the How You Can Help page or consult our Wish List and see how you can make a difference in the life of a sheltered animal.

How You Can Help!

Membership

You are welcome to attend a Save A Pet meeting and learn more about us. Guests and new members are always welcome. Our standing open meeting takes place on the third Wednesday of the month, September through June, at 7pm at the Seekonk Town Hall. Please check the Calendar of Events page for any updates or changes.

Save A Pet members receive copies of the monthly meeting minutes and announcements of upcoming events. If you are interested in formalizing your participation, please fill out a Registration Form. (Dues are $10 per year.)

Time

We all have so little of it, but even a few hours spent helping out can be a life-changing experience. Save A Pet Society offers volunteer opportunities for everyone. You can get caught up in the excitement of the annual Save A Pet Society Auction, the Craft and Vendor Fair, or any of our other fundraisers and activities.

You can walk the dogs at the shelter or help socialize the kittens in our care. Volunteers are always needed to answer phones at the shelter and to show prospective adopters the pets available for adoption. Even if you have only a few hours to spare a month - you CAN help!

Financial Donations

Financial donations are always welcome and deeply appreciated. Checks can be made payable to Save A Pet Society, and mailed with a completed Donation Form to our attention at PO Box 474, Seekonk, MA. Memorial gifts are also a wonderful way to honor the memory of someone who cared deeply about their pets and animal care.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to arrange a donation. Also, please note that all donations to Save A Pet Society are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Material Donations

The Seekonk Animal Shelter is always in need of supplies, from animal food to laundry soap paper towels. Physical materials are always greatly appreciated, and may be donated directly at the shelter. Please note that all donations to the shelter are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and a shelter representative will be happy to provide you with an itemized receipt.
