Seekonk Animal Shelter

The Adoption Process

Our Wish List

The Seekonk Animal Shelter is located at 100 Peck Street, next to the Town Hall.

Every year over 400 dogs and cats are cared for at the shelter. These animals are well fed, and receive excellent veterinary care during their time at the shelter thanks to the efforts of the Animal Control Officers and volunteers from the Save A Pet Society.

For more information on shelter hours and animals available for adoption, you can call the Animal Control Department at 508-336-6663.

You can also see featured interviews with our Animal Control Officer, as well as the current shelter residents, on Adopt This Pet with Karen K. This show is produced by TV 9 Seekonk, and is available on-demand here.

They can provide information about programs for adoption, reduced spay and neutering fees, and the feral release program.

Why Adopt?

First off, adopting makes you a superhero. You are opening your home and your heart to a creature who may have never known anything outside of the shelter.

Adoption also ensures you are taking home a new friend who has been fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, and socialized under the supervision of animal care professionals.

If you were to do this on your own, there would be a large out-of-pocket cost to you, and no clinical history on your new pet. Want to see the difference? Click here.

Animals Waiting for Adoption at the Seekonk Animal Shelter

The Seekonk Animal Shelter has an application process to ensure that the animals are placed in good homes. It takes about two days to process and the "turn around time" from your application to adoption is about one week. All the pets at the shelter are well fed and receive excellent veterinary care while they are awaiting adoption. Save A Pet volunteers also help to socialize the animals while they are at the shelter to help ease their transition to a new home.  Please follow the link below to the official town Shelter Web Site. There you will find more information and the adoption application form.
